Capital of Nasty Electronic Magazine Issue II, Volume I, Year MCMXCVI AD Monday, June 24th, 1996 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the second Issue of Capital of Nasty (CoN for short). The first step is usually the hardest, but it seems that we made it this far, and the second one can't be any harder then that one. I got a lot of positive response about the first issue (I guess it was funny.. that was the intention! =) Please we need more support! If you have other users that would be interested in this magazine send them a copy of the issue and send the e-Mail address over here! =) In this issue: 1. The most beautiful poem by Francesca Antonaci 2. Blue Dog can Byte 3. Capital of Nasty PGP key. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) It's here, in my heart, that I find you. by Francesca Antonaci Laying alone one night in my bed.. I turn myself to look at the place where you once slept... I reach out to hold you close.. but I don't find you there anymore... WAlking through the streets you once walked through.. I reach out to squeeze your hand.. but you're not there... Reading the same books I once read when you were here... I look up to catch your gaze... but you're not there... Sitting at a table in a restaurant where i once ate with you.. I search for converstaion... but you're not there... Laying myself down to sleep again, holding the pillow you once used.. I pray to God that if I close my eyes tight, that i can hold all your memories forever,... close in my heart... It's here, in my heart, that I find you. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Blue Dog can Byte by Leandro (leandro@ifront.com) When virtual turns into lame. The dog that we had just painted blue, sat there looking at us. It had the look that a dog usually has: big eyes that just sit there and stare at you, the tongue hanging out, waiting that we grabbed the tiny little red ball from the floor and tossed it around so he could play. When we adopted Steve (that's the name of the dog) we were very surprised at the fact that it never did what dogs do every oh-so-many hours. It slept, it ate, it drank water, it barked, scratched, howled at the moon, growled, played but never relieved itself. We noticed that the dog never actually eats. No matter how much it sits there and munches on whatever it's food is, the dish is always full. Is this dog for real?! Actually, no, it's a virtual dog, that lives, thrives and survives on your monitor. And guess what, the darned thing never dies. Practically, for 20$ (US funds) by calling a toll-free line, you are given the access code to activate the program which will allow you to "own" a dog that you selected and do various things with it (for all the alt.sex.pets fans, sorry, you'll be disappointed). We got a chuckle out of this, I mean, there really is EVERYTHING out there for types of software, but I never imagined such a thing. DOGZ (the name of the software) is made by PFMagic, and they even have their own web site. We promptly visited, and were greeted by several options, the most scary ones were the ones to trade your 'dogz' story and read the one of others. For those that like the mugz shots, there even is a whole section were you can send your dog's picture in, so other users can enviously look at what the little fucker can do. Every single one of this people (and I'm talking hundreds of people here) have paid $20 dollars to own and teach a virtual dog some virtual tricks. Why? Why bother? why not give the money to your local humane society were animals, real animals, could use some help? Once again we've proven at what point this society has arrived. Is this the future for pets? I can already see next, virtual girlfriend/boyfriend. I'm not too sure how this program will work, but it's going to be tough programming. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Capital of Nasty PGP key.
