Throughout history, any time a minority group 넴 枋 gains some power or has something another larger, more powerful group 넴 枋 wants, thus begins the process of demagoguery. Demagoguery is the 넴 枋 process by which one group, sometimes even a whole society begins to 넴 枋 instill fear of another group for political reasons. President Jackson 넴 枋 did such with the Cherokee Indians with the Trail of Tears all because 넴 枋 there was thought to be gold in North Georgia where the Cherokee tribes 넴 枋 resided. Hitler began such a process with the Jews because they were 넴 枋 more successful, or seemed to be, than other German citizens. Before 넴 枋 and after the above named incidences our history is riddled with such 넴 枋 acts just by virtue of being culturally different. Various cultures have넴 枋 their own idiosyncrasies by which most other cultures tend to stereotype넴 枋 them, perpetuating the fear that this group or that, might some day gain넴 枋 power threatening the status quo. 넴 枋 넴 枋 People, in general, don't like their worldviews threatened and new 넴 枋 encounters with various cultures tend to shake those worldviews. A 넴 枋 worldview is how an individual perceives the world through his or her 넴 枋 experiences and the process of making sense of those experiences. Our 넴 枋 worldview is how we define our culture and how societies are formed. 넴 枋 When the general population encounters a culture that is distinctly 넴 枋 different from the norm, a first reaction is fear. The second is fitting넴 枋 this new experience in with previous experience, hence stereotyping. 넴 枋 When the media becomes involved, the process of stereotyping goes much 넴 枋 more quickly, most notably by highlighting the most visible acts of the 넴 枋 identifying culture, oftentimes to that culture's detriment. 넴 枋 넴 枋 The media has certainly affected the way the general population views 넴 枋 the hacking culture. Terms such as white hat hackers and script kiddies 넴 枋 have become buzzwords as the media begins it's quest to sort, identify, 넴 Uo areas of the world, but only recently begun to receive 넴 枋 notice from the rest of the world community. As a culture gains momentum넴 枋 ,it also becomes a threat to the status quo and thus begins the process 넴 枋 of demagoguery. 넴 枋 넴 枋 Although the hackers in general refer to themselves as a culture, one 넴 枋 wonders whether they realize that they are in fact a very distinct 넴 枋 culture. The word culture is used to describe a worldview and a way of 넴 枋 life that fits that worldview. As with any other culture, when the 넴 枋 negative aspects of the culture receive the greatest percentage of 넴 枋 notice, the culture as a whole suffers. Although there have been a few 넴 枋 efforts to dispel the notion that hackers as a group go around defacing 넴 枋 web pages, breaking into computers to steal whatever there is to steal, 넴 枋 the efforts have been rather individualistic and seldom. The knowledge, 넴 枋 the ability, and the power may be there to do this and it does happen, 넴 枋 for most it's the curiosity that draws them. They are explorers of a 넴 枋 sort learning, taking things apart to see how they work, discovering new넴 枋 ways of doing things, and sharing that knowledge with others, with their넴 枋 primary goal that of advancing knowledge. As more and more people begin 넴 枋 to communicate via the internet, hackers became more noticeable. The 넴 枋 implications of what can happen is what frightens the general population넴 枋 ,making it easy for a more viable, somewhat trusted, group to instill 넴 枋 fear of the hacking culture as a whole, rather like homophobia. 넴 枋 넴 枋 The Mormons survived only by accepting the dictates of the government 넴 枋 for marriage. Much of their beliefs and way of life were modified 넴 枋 to fit the majority society's ideals, yet, they managed to survive in 넴 枋 the onslaught against their culture and religion. Martin Luther King 넴 枋 also led such a movement to gain civil rights for African Americans. It 넴 枋 is movements such as these that gain acceptance for the various cultures넴 枋 around the world. Nor are these movements particular to the 20th century넴 枋 but is as old and probably older than written history. Great Britain 넴 枋 once banned the Gaelic language from being written or spoken. And the 넴 枋 language and the religion almost died as a result but it survived. The 넴 枋 Roman Empire imposed similar restrictions along with their conquest of 넴 枋 the world. But cultures still survived these onslaughts, not all by any 넴 枋 means, but those that did had similar elements to their survival. All 넴 枋 were subjected to some form of demagoguery, they made a concerted effort넴 枋 to win recognition for their culture as a group with chosen leaders, and넴 枋 educated the rest of the world about their culture and what it means to 넴 枋 be a part of that culture. 넴 枋 넴 枋 The hacker culture is facing the same dilemmas. As more and more sites 넴 枋 related to hacking and security go down and governmental interference 넴 枋 increases, the community as whole is becoming very disorganized and 넴 枋 fragmented. The very fact that names like script kiddies and white hat 넴 枋 hackers are becoming the buzzwords is evidence of the divided camps 넴 枋 among the culture itself, leaving a whole spectrum of members lost, 넴 枋 without guidance or support from like minded individuals, and few, if 넴 枋 any, apparent leaders. Unfortunately, this is also part of the process; 넴 枋 the divide and conquer phase of demagoguery.
