This means you can fix it easily and save big money on buying an adapter. I know most of you hardware junkies out there have ac adapters to laptops you don't even have. Well take your knife and wire cutters, cut off the three prong. After that seperate the three wires in there. The middle one is green and always is green on all laptop adapters. The green is your neutral wire, the other two wires are not labeled. The left wire coming out of your adapter will be your hot wire, the right wire is your ground and of course as previously stated the middle is your neutral. ------------- To laptop | | The one wire|----Hot(left) ----------------| |-------------|----Neutral(green) | | That is 3 |----Ground(right) ------------- The one wire is the wire that is detachable on most laptop adapters that goes out to the AC power outlet. Take the other laptop adapter or three prong which can also be off of a regular tower box and strip it down to three wires which will be the same color code. Wire the matching wires together, tape them off or use wire caps. Do not hook the laptop adapter into the laptop yet, just plug it up and watch for the green led if it has one(which most do). Check and see if the unit is behaving normal, no smoke or access heat. If all goes well plug it into the laptop and you are good as new, saving mucho dinero on buying a new adapter. Here is another diagram to help out on the wiring. _ ------------- --| | ----Ground---- | | --| |----------------Neutral------------| |----------------- --|_| ----Hot ------ | | To laptop To ac outlet Area of prong fix ------------- On side note - The hot and the ground wire are usually color coded black, hot is left!!!!
