::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Free AIM on Nokia 3390 Cell Phones By Node of The Centre 4/16/02 ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: *---------------------------------* This is meant for educational purposes only. I am not responsible for any damages you may cause to your phone by reading this file. *---------------------------------* Nokia 3390 cell phones have a new feature. AIM messaging, this lets you send and receive Instant Messages through America Online's Instant Messenger service. Before you can try this you must make sure you have went to http://www.aim.com and registered a screen name to use. For some reason or another, I am not paying the $2.99 a month on my cell phone, that is, I can't, because I am pre-paid. When I first got my phone I was interested in all the new features since it had not been a year since my last cell phone. The features that interested me the most was the picture messaging and the instant messenger service. I've decided to write a text file on this, it seems to work well. Having tried this on my phone, and then going to buy another phone I am almost positive it will work on yours. Try and reproduce the events as I list them. 1) Go to www.aim.com, and register a new screen name with your real e-mail. DO NOT LOG onto this screen name with your home computer, simply use it to register. 2) Once the registration has been confirmed, DO NOT reply to the e-mail they send you. I didn't. 3) Type your screen into your phone in the "IM" menu, and the password. Make sure it is typed correctly, the passwords are case sensitive. 4) Log-on. You should have no problem logging on. The screen should read "Welcome, XXX" where XXX is your screen name. Monitor your mobile phones logon from your home computer by adding your mobile screen name to your buddy list. After a few days, or when your pre-paid minutes run down, the AIM services may log off. This happened to me. I didn't use my cell phone for a week, and just decided to buy and new phone of the exact same model just to experiment with the first one. I did the same as before, bought a pre-paid phone and the minutes, and reproduced the events. That is why I am very sure this should work on your phone. I'm sure you do not want to buy another $100 phone just to escape the $2.99 a month fee, so here is what I also found out. You can "trick" the phone somehow, by removing the face and taking out the battery for a minute. Once the battery is back in and you turn your phone on it will ask for time and date again. Input the correct time and date and immediately log onto the messenger service. Have a nice day. :) --------------------------- This text file was downloaded from LDC v2 http://www.deadbyte.com/ldc/ ---------------------------
